How are the proceeds used?

Great question!!!

  • 93% of the proceeds from the baked goods, t-shirts and other merchandise goes directly to the recipient.
  • The remaining 7% covers items purchased for the cookie throwdown (like the bags and boxes used to take treats home).*

2018

It is year #7 for this really fun fundraiser! Our 2018 Pink Warrior is Georgia Reymann. Georgia has had two bouts of breast cancer most recently went in to fight mode in 2017. Patty and Georgia got to know each other as customers of Grandview Grind. We look forward to putting the $ towards a used car for Georgia.

2017

Year #6 2017 Pink Warrior is none other than one of our very own organizers, Shyvonne. Shyvonne is a 2 time breast cancer survivor. As Patty thought of this year's Pink Warrior, her friend Shyvonne was telling her about her reconstructions surgery costs. LIGHT BULB!  We are very happy to potentially pay off Shyvonne's surgery costs with CT 2017.

2016

It is year #5 for this really fun fundraiser! Our 2016 Pink Warrior is Danyelle. Danyelle was diagnosed in January 2016 with breast cancer. We stopped at Danyelle's business to tell her the Pink Warrior news.....not one dry eye. 9/25/16 was Danyelle's day and we REALLY RAISED FUNDS to support our Pink Warrior.

2015

Year #4 for this really fun fundraiser! Our 2015 Pink Warrior is Heather. Heather was diagnosed in November, 2014 with breast cancer and has been through her regiment with a recent bout of chemo. Could not be more thrilled that her health is doing well, she remains as spiritual, smiley, inspirational and wonderful as ever.

2014

The 2014 Pink Warrior selected was Mary. Mary is an over 18 year survivor of breast cancer. Mary was duped in to coming to Columbus to bring her son Matt to the annual Cookie Throwdown. Mary got in the door with Matt and Cathleen. We hugged and talked. and then we had Carol, from the previous year, tell Mary she was our 2014 Pink Warrior. We thought Mary had gotten it but she was taken by complete surprise that she in fact was the beneficiary of the cookie throwdown. SHE LOVED IT and wore her pink sash to church the next day.

2013

For #2 Cookie Throwdown, Patty chose Carol as our Pink Warrior Recipient (she is on the left, in the photo above). Carol was undergoing breast cancer treatments, and due to them, wasn't able to maintain full time employment. Carol baked for the event without knowing she was the recipient, and let us tell you, there wasn't a dry eye around when Patty let Carol know.

Because of the Cookie Throwdown, we were able to gift Carol over $2,000, which she used for things like new tires and other needed staples to help get her life back to "normal".

2012

2012 was the first year of Cookie Throwdown and we donated over $3,000 to the Stefanie Spielman Fund at The Ohio State University's James Cancer Hospital. Suz & Stefanie knew each other through Jones Middle School, but also battled breast cancer at the same time and were part of each other's support team.
